Why should I pay?

The game gives you two characters to play with - obviously they are the least skillful.
The idea and concept is fun but the idea of paying to do special moves, use better characters is beyond me.
Why would I pay $4.99 to unlock characters AND pay another $4.99 for special moves when, with what the game has already given me (characters and aerial acrobatics), I already have Gold and Silver medal rankings.

There is no reward system which gives it very little replay value (I have a high score of 139k) - pretty lame if my only incentive is to beat my own score
